v0.9.8.69 (BETA) June 2026 Closed BETA

Beta release available exclusively to 3D Revolution Patreons and YouTube channel members. Join to try these features early and help shape the next public release.

This beta builds on top of the new v0.9.6.11 public release, so it includes everything in v0.9.6.11 including new features, improvements, and bug fixes.

If you're catching up on what's new, it's well worth reading the v0.9.6.11 entry below as well. On top of all of that, this beta adds the following:

New Features
  • Cleaner, smoother, more accurate painting — the big one. A complete rework of how Primed3D handles paint on the surface lets you paint much cleaner, smoother lines on any surface, flat or curved, with crisp boundaries that hold their shape. The same rework also makes exports cleaner and watertight — overlapping and non-manifold geometry is gone (including the long-standing issue when painting over photo-projected surfaces), so models import correctly across Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer (and its variants), and PrusaSlicer.
  • Translucent Black Filament — a new option in the Colour Adjustments section that boosts the amount of black laid down in dithered lines by 75%, compensating for translucent black filament tinting less per layer.
  • Angle Lock — the Brush and Sphere tools can now lock the painting angle to a set number of degrees relative to the current camera view, for clean straight strokes.
  • Band Painting tool — paint a solid band of any thickness, at any angle and any height on your model.
  • Auto-Repair Mesh On Export — a new option in Settings that seals every seam and T-junction created during colour processing, producing fully watertight, manifold 3MF files. Off by default for faster exports; turn it on if your slicer reports open or non-manifold edges, or whenever you want a guaranteed-clean mesh.
  • Rotation by text entry — orientation rotation degrees can now be typed in directly, as well as set by slider.
  • Tips while processing — the processing screen now shows rotating tips and shortcuts while it works, so there's something useful to read during longer exports.
Updates & Improvements
  • Compress Export File Size — a Settings option (on by default) that shares geometry between connected same-colour faces to produce dramatically smaller 3MF files — as much as 90% smaller — with no loss of detail.
  • Brush sizing by diameter — brush size now uses diameter rather than radius, and can go as small as 0.1mm.
  • Improved Simplify Colours — the Simplify Colours tool now works better and more reliably across painted, textured, and photo-projected models.
  • Refreshed settings & help — a clearer Settings window with a new cog icon, and an updated Help & Tips guide covering every tool, mode, save/load, and the export settings.
v0.9.6.11 June 2026 Release Current Stable

A major colour-accuracy update: a brand-new Custom Blend painting mode for printing with your own chosen filaments, custom filament colours now feeding the real dither maths, Vivid colours for CMY, plus key bug fixes including the CMY pink-export issue.

New Features
  • Custom Blend Painting mode — a completely separate painting mode. Instead of printing via CMY filaments, you choose the exact number and colours of the filaments you want to print with, then paint directly with those — as well as with any blend of them (via dithered lines) and gradients between them.
  • Custom Colour Codes — previously, entering a filament's hex code only changed the preview colour, so once you assigned the real filament colour in your slicer the dither colours were misrepresented. Your CMYKW hex codes now feed the dither-line processing itself, so the lines are adjusted to recreate the target colour as closely as your filaments allow. Note: this isn't for introducing non-CMYKW colours (use Custom Blend mode for that) — it ensures that if your cyan, magenta, or yellow isn't pure, that's accounted for during processing.
Updates & Improvements
  • Vivid Colour processing for CMY — Vivid colour processing is now also available when CMY filament mode is selected.
  • Two ways to pick colours — the Colour Picker is no longer a separate painting tool. There's now an eyedropper button in the toolbar, to the right of the hex code box, for picking colours from your model inside the 3D viewer — click it, then click any painted part of your model to grab that exact colour. Separately, clicking the colour-preview square opens the colour picker, whose eyedropper can sample a colour from anywhere on your screen, even outside the browser window.
  • Colour Adjustments — the Colour Cleaners section has been renamed to Colour Adjustments.
  • Gradient Centre Point slider — a centre-point slider is now available with the gradient tool when in Select mode.
🐛 Bug Fixes
  • CMY pink-export fixed — v0.9.5.1 had a serious bug where processing in CMY made the whole model come out pink. This has been fixed.
  • Project loading restored — when loading saved Primed3D projects, the undo/redo buttons, the navigation control-key window, and the paint colour palette failed to load. These now all load correctly.
  • Re-process enforced after changes — Primed3D now requires you to re-process after changing any setting that affects an export, or after any painting, before you can download again.
  • Settings reset on new import — importing a new object while another project is loaded now resets all settings.
v0.9.5.1 May 2026 Release

Major update bringing partial subdivision, project save/load, layer height choice, an on-screen pan button, an improved photo workflow, viewport rendering fixes, and a critical compatibility fix for solid-colour exports in PrusaSlicer and OrcaSlicer.

New Features
  • Partial subdivision — the Increase Resolution tool now has a Selection mode alongside Whole Model. Brush or fill an area on the model to subdivide just those faces, useful for adding density to a specific region (a face on a figurine, a logo on a body panel) without inflating the whole mesh. Boundary faces are automatically fan-stitched to prevent T-junctions and keep the mesh watertight for slicing.
  • On-screen pan button — a small four-way arrow button below the view-control cluster (Reset / Wireframe / Grid / Views) lets you press and drag to pan the camera. Useful on laptops and Macs without a middle mouse button. Right-click still orbits, scroll still zooms — only the pan gesture changes.
  • Save and load Primed3D projects — a new 💾 Save Project button below Process exports a .primed3d file containing the model, all painting, selections, photo projection, undo history, and every setting from the current session. Re-import via 📂 Load Project in the Settings popup to pick up exactly where you left off. Files include a version stamp; if a save was made in a different version of Primed3D, loading offers the option to launch the original version in a new tab.
  • Choice of layer height for processing — a new Layer Height dropdown in the Process & Export panel lets you choose between 0.08mm (standard) and 0.06mm (high quality, finer colour resolution at the cost of ~33% longer print time). The chosen height needs to be matched in your slicer for the dither lines to align correctly with the printed layers.
  • Improved Photo Projection workflow — the Apply To toggle (Whole Model / Selection) and the face-selection panel now appear when the Photo tool is selected, before you upload an image. Pick where the photo will land first, brush or fill your selection, then load the photo and position it. The image manipulator sliders stay hidden until a photo is loaded.
🐛 Bug Fixes
  • Solid Colours exports now import correctly into PrusaSlicer and OrcaSlicer — previously only Bambu Studio recognised the export as multi-material; the other slicers saw it as a single-colour mesh. The export now includes the slic3rpe multi-material metadata so all three slicers detect it correctly.
  • Improved viewport rendering — fixed a long-standing speckle issue where small painted-colour fragments would appear scattered across unpainted areas (and vice versa) depending on view angle and zoom. The processed export was always correct; this was viewport-only, but could be misleading when judging painting progress. Solid painted areas now render cleanly at any view angle or zoom level.

v0.9.3.3 April 2026 Release

Major feature update introducing photo projection painting, solid colour export for traditional multi-colour printing, a rewritten help system, and a range of brush and colour tooling improvements.

New Features
  • Photo Projection tool — load a photo (JPG or PNG) and project it onto your model as a painted texture. Position, scale, and rotate the overlay in the viewport before applying. Supports whole-model and face-selection modes. Transparent PNG backgrounds are respected. Filament mode automatically switches to WKCMY on apply for best photo colour accuracy
  • Solid Colours export — new export mode that outputs each painted face as a flat solid colour with no CMY dithering. Designed for traditional multi-colour FDM printing (e.g. Bambu AMS). Also works as a project save format — export as Solid (Full Spectrum) and re-import into Primed3D to continue editing
  • Palette Size control for Solid Colours export — reduce your painted colours to a fixed palette of 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, or 24 colours using weighted k-means++ clustering, to match the number of filament slots in your slicer
  • Filament Colour customisation — set the actual hex colour codes for each filament channel (C, M, Y, W, K) to match your specific filament brands. This updates the slicer preview colours in the exported 3MF without affecting the dithering calculations
  • Rewritten Help & Tips modal with expandable accordion sections covering: basic workflow, all paint tools, the gradient tool, the photo tool (including limitations), and all export modes
Improvements
  • Brush tool now respects face normals during BFS spread — the brush no longer bleeds around sharp corners (e.g. onto adjacent perpendicular faces of a cube) when painting near edges
  • Angle-limit fill tool fixed for models with minor vertex precision variations — adjacency detection tolerance relaxed to correctly identify shared edges across flat faces
  • UV atlas overflow fixed — patch sizes are now calculated with a binary search that guarantees all face patches fit within the texture bounds, preventing UV clamping artefacts (wrong colours on unrelated faces, swirling photo distortion)
  • Photo projection export quality improved — each 0.08mm layer slice is individually reprojected through the saved camera to sample the photo, giving accurate per-layer colour variation on any mesh regardless of polygon density
  • Applying the photo tool, then scaling the model, no longer causes a duplicated photo appearing on hidden geometry in the exported 3MF
  • Photo projection in selection mode now correctly tracks only the faces from the most recent application, preventing accumulation of previous projection state bleeding into the export

v0.8.4 April 2026 Release

Cross-slicer export compatibility, a light/dark UI mode, and further refinements to the CMY dithering algorithm for cleaner printed output.

New Features
  • Exported 3MF files are now compatible with Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, and Snapmaker Orca Slicer — colour data imports correctly in all three
  • Lite Mode — a light UI theme toggled via the button in the footer status bar, with preference saved between sessions
🐛 Bug Fixes
  • Fixed incorrect layer index assignment for flat and near-horizontal faces, which was causing inconsistent dithering on top surfaces and embossed details
  • Fixed near-white and zero-demand colours being dithered as an equal mix of all channels (printing dark) rather than using minimal material
  • Fixed modifier and negative-volume parts (e.g. cut geometry) rendering as solid objects on 3MF import
  • Fixed 8-character hex colour values in Bambu filament config (e.g. with alpha channel) silently failing to parse, shifting all subsequent filament slot colours
  • Fixed per-part colour assignment on component-based multi-part 3MF objects importing with incorrect colours
Improvements
  • Dithering sequence refined — flatter surfaces now receive correctly positioned layer assignments, producing a cleaner and more uniform finish when printed
  • Gradient tool: applying without first setting start and end points in Selection mode now shows an in-window notification rather than a browser alert
  • Undo and redo now correctly clear gradient selection highlights before applying
